I belong Out West

I may not be a globetrotter, but I do think I’ve found where I feel at home - in the mountain west. I’ve visited several times, and each visit feels more like I’m coming home. My wife tells me to stop talking about how great it is out there in fear of it causing more people to move out there.

But let’s be realistic - no one listens to me, anyway, so it doesn’t matter. As I near my eligibility for retirement, the reality of being able to move somewhere I want to be - versus somewhere I have to be - is both exciting and scary. And it’s also far from a guarantee.

The small town of Swan Lake was awesome.

This was in the small town of Swan Lake, ID. Full disclosure: the sky is fake. It was solid blue and looked boring. The sunstar, though, is real.

Perhaps I’ll be content to be able to visit whenever I want while opting to continue to live in the southeast. Perhaps life has other plans about where I’ll end up. All I know is that my soul draws me westward.
